We were quickly brought a small cast iron pot of pinto beans, which was a cute idea, but the inside of the pot didn’t look all that clean and the barely warm beans tasted like they were straight out of the can. An elderly couple seemed to be running things and the lady was not all that. The name and theme really drew us but once inside the place gives the overall feeling of being a little rundown. I really don’t know how this won an award. There are way too many great restaurants in this area to eat at an expensive bad one. We will never again eat at the Catfish Cabin. We left most of it on our plates, paid the bill (which was $40.+ for two of us, and went to a different restaurant for dinner. The thin edges were cooked enough that we could eat those, but the thicker center areas were raw and nasty. Then, our catfish was brought to our table. I showed her our almost empty bowls and she said, "I'll give you extra this one time." The server then showed up with a little more beans. The owner came back with one small bowl of cole slaw and asked why we needed more slaw. Without answering, she turned and walked to the lady who owns the restaurant. I also asked if she could fill our bowls of cole slaw and she "huffed" at me. I immediately called the server over and showed her that we got almost no beans, certainly not enough for two of us, and she rolled her eyes.

Our bowls of cole slaw were less than one-fourth full and the slaw had no dressing at all.just dry cabbage. There wasn't even enough to fill my wife's small half-cup bowl, much less mine. Tonight, when the server brought the pot of beans, it looked like we got the leftovers in the bottom of the last customer's pot. Never again after tonight! NEVER! The food has always been good. It's usually the first place we eat when we arrive at Fairfield Glade in the fall. My wife and I have been eating at the Catfish Cabin in Crossville, TN for many, many years.
